Yellow Jessamine

Posted by Picasa One of the most aromatic plants in the Maritime hammock forest is Yellow jessamine. A climbing perennial vine, Yellow jessamine blooms in early February and its heavy scented trumpet shaped flowers herald the arrival of spring. As tempting as it may be, do not pick these flowers; they are poinsonous. Their beauty provides enjoyment for all as winter edges into spring.

Poser

Everytime I was ready to snap a pic, he was off and running again. I asked him just as casual as if I were asking about the weather if he would please hold still jut a minute so I could take his picture. He immediately sat down, straightened his back and looked over at me and posed for this picture. He was quite a ways away from me, so I find it hard to believe he actually heard me, but he posed for several pictures and when I was done, I said "Thank you very much, I got some good ones" and he looked at me for a second more and got up and walked off. I met up with him again at ground level where there was a big glass window to see him, and he came over and sat right in front of me, if the glass wasn't there, we could have been almost knee to knee sitting cross legged looking at each other. I signed a few things to him, but he didn't seem to know what I was saying...I only know a few real signs and a couple of modified signs from my buddy Stefan. I took some more pics, but there was such a glare on the glass they didn't turn out very good. We sat there a few moments, and I signed "I love you, Thank you" (for letting me take pics) and so he stood up and so did I. Suddenly he stood up, peered over my shoulder, got a bit agitated, and then ran to the middle window and hit it with his fist in the face of the lady behind me. I guess he didn't like her...maybe she didn't know sign language...maybe she didn't ask before taking his picture. Either way, it was such an incredible experience...He really seemed to like me. Posted by Picasa
